Analytics in more detail#

We use PostHog, installed on our own infrastructure, to understand how the website and the web app are used and to find and fix problems. It records page views, clicks, the type of browser and device, errors, and the product events that happen when you use the app. If you accepted analytics, events in your browser are tied to a random identifier stored in the cookie above, and are linked to your account once you sign in. If you declined or have not chosen, events in your browser are not linked to your account or to a stored identifier. Product events recorded by our servers when you use your account are described in the Privacy Policy.

If you decline, or until you choose, no analytics cookie or browser storage is set and no session is recorded. We still count visits in a cookieless way: our analytics server combines your IP address and browser details into a short-lived, salted hash that cannot be used to recognize you on another day, and the IP address itself is not stored with the event.

If you accept analytics, we may record sessions to see where visitors get stuck, and everything typed into a field is masked. Inside the private workspace (the app, practice and password-reset pages) every word on the screen is also masked, so a recording shows where people click, never what a conversation says.

PostHog runs on our own servers. It does not send this data to an advertising network, and we do not use it for advertising.

Your choices#

Essential cookies are needed for sign-in to work. If you block them, you cannot stay signed in on the web.

The analytics cookie is not needed for sign-in. The first time you visit, a notice lets you accept or decline analytics; nothing is stored for analytics until you accept. To change your choice later, clear this site's data in your browser and the notice appears again. You can also:

  • block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings (the name begins with ph_);
  • use a content blocker or your browser's tracking protection, which stops the analytics script from loading; or
  • email support@magicinterview.app and ask us to exclude you from analytics and to delete the analytics profile linked to your account.

Blocking analytics does not change what you can do in MagicInterview.

Changes#

If we add a cookie or a new kind of storage, we will update this page and tell you if the change needs your choice.
